Survivalist, martial artist, time traveler... 5 AD wasn't expecting Alex. Then again, she just woke up, well, then.

Book III
The Centurion's Woman: Scholar - Amanda Flieder
You have again written a fine story with an amazing cast of characters, including some very strong female characters. There's some great wit and humor sprinkled throughout. It's a fine tale of treachery, greed, corruption, lust and love. Great Combination!

MAGGIE'S REVIEW: 5*s
I am not a Latin scholar.  I do not know much of the history of the Roman empire.  And I would have no idea how to survive in a cabin in the middle of nowhere without running water, or electricity, or an outside food source.  All this to say: I really enjoyed this book...

LINDSEY'S REVIEW: 4*s
I wasn't sure I liked this book when I first started reading. I have studied the Latin language and classical history in college, and was really excited to see a romance that took place in my favorite era. However, I think it made it a little more difficult for me to buy into a few elements of the story...
Just finished the book - I need Book 2! The book is excellent and she deserves more exposure - I thoroughly (yes, thoroughly) enjoyed it!!

What a great read! Alex is a strong female character in a world dominated by men. She has a ton of Chutzpah. You go girl!

This book was such fun to read! None of the flowery, lame, wanna-be prose that a lot of other authors try to use to be classy and romantic. This book is like your wickedly funny, dark and filthy-minded co-worker down the hall wrote a ... wait, what?! You don't have one of those?! You have my sympathies. Now you need to read this more than ever! A cool concept, well-developed and engaging characters, and sex! Like "you and your friends discussing a romp after work" sex, not some contrived scenario that nobody would plan or want. Straightforward language, snappy dialogue, and a cheeky nod to history. You definitely get the flavor of old Rome, without feeling like you're reading a plodding history tome. I definitely got attached to a couple of the characters, really excited to see where this goes in book 2!

Alex is just the kind of feisty skilled heroine we like to think knocked guys out of the park back in the day. She may walk, talk and behave like a slave but she is anything but. She's the kind of role model we want to see and read about. She's smart, thinks on her feet, weighs her options and is just a real take-charge young woman. She's a perfect foil for Young Adult readers who love adventure with a strong dose of intrigue, romance and all-out fun. Can't wait to read the next installment: Warrior. Bring it on!

I just wanted to say that I love your heroine Alex and your hero Ixillius. I love it's a combination of Romance / Adventure / Science Fiction / Mystery and I want to discover how Alex's mom and dad came together and how Alex becomes Rome's first Amazon and, and.... I can't wait until your next book is released. :)

I really enjoyed reading this book from beginning to end and am looking forward to the next book in the trilogy!

It's a really good book! The characters are memorable - not like some books where you can't remember who they are - and the story is good. I enjoyed this read!

When it's Not Perfect
Brilliant story weaving brings the characters to life in this just-can't-put-it-down story. I recommend a hot chocolate and a tissue for reading this one :)
