Mid-week Fun Update

So... I threatened in an earlier post that there might be pictures of our costumes for Calgary Comic Expo. I'm posting this mid-week blog to make good on the threat.
We had a blast on Saturday! I was way too overwhelmed with all the people lol. Me and the kids only stuck around for a few hours, but long enough to check out Artist Alley (my favorite part) and to wait in line for mini donuts (the kids' favorite part). There were so many amazing cosplayers there! If you ever get a chance, this is a great Comic Expo to attend.
My sister-friend and I cosplayed as random Star Wars characters. We didn't have names and weren't anyone specific, but we had fun making the costumes and it was easy to identify which universe we were a part of!
As you can see, I'm the "good" sister. You can also see that the camera on my phone isn't great (and that my ability with photoshop ends with being able to skew a background), but I think we looked pretty good for a couple of amateurs.
Some of the amazing costumes we saw (which I couldn't get pictures of because kids) included a Groot who must've been at least seven feet tall thanks to painter's stilts, a Peter Quill who was as awesomely in character as that Groot he was with, a Leeloo who could've just walked off the movie set between shooting for the white-bandage-clothing scenes, and a couple of Deadpools who I'm pretty sure were wearing actual movie costumes (kidding - but WOW those guys looked great!).

The superheroes, gender-bent Thors and Lokis, video game idols, and a slew of other awesome cosplay (including a Groot who was likely only about seven years old and totally stole the show for me), made the quick trip down to Calgary so very, very worth it. The best moment for me, however, was both my kids recognizing one of their favorite Five Nights at Freddy's characters, Toy Foxy, and yelling and pointing and making the person behind the mesh in the mask smile so wide that I actually still grin just thinking about it.
Time to start planning for next year.... ;)
