Well. I guess this is Saturday.
The world seems to be even more on fire than usual... or at least it's in media more than usual. George Floyd is a name to be remembered, and his family has my love right now. The middle of a pandemic is not when you need a loved one to become a martyr and political tool.
I just hope the lever resting on the fulcrum he's become is large enough to effect the needed changes, and rips open the problems into (white) public view in such a way that (white) people can no longer ignore and/or support the hate and oppression against other (non-white) people. Something made exponentially harder now that it's apparent (white) people are instigating greater violence in the rioting in an effort to "prove" the riots are dangerous and deserve military retaliation. Those instigating the violence are the dangerous ones. I believe POC who are witnessing and recording white vandalism and incitement.
In my house, in my own country, not much has been going on. School is officially to remain from-home until September, which means my kids will finish Grade 3 and Kindergarten stuck with learning from Ms Mom. Next year may start with Ms Mom, too. And there was that fun conversation with my 8-year-old about this likely being the First Lockdown, with school next year getting interrupted as well.
I guess we all just wait and see what happens with this pandemic, and we'll know more as the situation develops. I still have my few worksheets available as free downloads in case you need them, too. Just a quick click over to School Stuff will take you there.
I did steal a few hours for some writing time twice this week. Both times were awesome. I'm hoping to steal more hours again in the coming week because the characters in my big manuscript are getting loud in my head. They want their story told! Also, my side story characters are whispering and grumbling about wanting their turn at the keyboard. So... I guess I need to maybe make time instead of stealing it? That idea is so wild, it just might work ;)
No story part today. I'll begin with Part 1 of my novella, Daion Echoes through Transglass next Saturday (June 6). Until then, I've been posting up a series of post-apocalyptic shorts on my Wattpad if you want to check them out. The latest, 6 Years After, just went up today.
I hope you're staying safe, behaving pandemically responsible, and keeping well.
